Doha is set to host the Gulf qualifiers for the FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2026 after the organising committee confirmed that final preparations for the tournament have been completed.

The competition will take place at the Al Gharafa Sports Hall from July 25 to 30 and will bring together the under-18 national teams of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.

The five teams will play in a single round-robin format, with the top two teams qualifying for the FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2026, to be held in Ahmedabad, India, from August 13 to 23.

The continental tournament will also serve as a pathway to the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2027 in Czechia. FIBA has confirmed that the top four teams at the U18 Asia Cup will qualify for the World Cup, scheduled for June 26 to July 4, 2027.

The Gulf qualifiers begin on Saturday with Kuwait facing Oman, followed by Saudi Arabia against Bahrain. Qatar will open its campaign against Saudi Arabia on Sunday, before meeting Kuwait on July 27, Oman on July 29 and Bahrain on July 30.

The organising committee said it is working to deliver the tournament to the required technical and logistical standards.
