A fantastic turnout was seen on day two of Build Your House (BYH) Exhibition 2022 at the Qatar National Convention Centre, including exhibitors, speakers, and the Junior Interior Designer Competition. The goal of this collaborative platform is to stimulate the real estate and construction sectors by bringing together industry experts, government entities, and Qatari nationals under one roof.

Throughout the BYH Exhibition 2022, attendees can find the experts they need to oversee their home improvements or brand-new home builds, and browse and find the materials they need. The event featured over 150 exhibitors and two international pavilions with leading brands from Türkiye and Portugal. In addition, the event included innovative smart home technology and renewables, architectural trends, and many new materials.

BYH Exhibition 2022 continues to show its support for Qatar's future designers through its Best Interior Design Competition, held in cooperation with Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar). BYH Exhibition awarded this year's winners on stage during a special presentation. Jood Elbeshti was awarded first place; Noor Abdulmalik came in second; and Laura AlFardan placed third. They received award certificates and the opportunity to exhibit their designs.

Winner Joud ElBeshti remarked on his participation in the competition: “The design process was a fun challenge and knowing that it will be exhibited in the BYH was a driving factor for me and my classmates to do our best.”

Dr. Haithem A. El-Hammali, Assistant Professor Interior Design, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar said: “For our students to take their projects out of the classroom and into the real world is an invaluable educational opportunity. Therefore, I believe this event is also a platform for our talented young students who will become their potential designers in the future to promote their design ideas and skills to the potential professional or homeowner visitors who are looking to build or refurbish their homes.”

In the Knowledge Sharing Conference and Future Living Conference presented by BYH Exhibitions, visitors can learn about the full construction cycle, explore the latest architectural trends, and discover smart technology for assisted living.

The event this year offers a new format, which is divided into three parts: Each day will start with presentations by government agencies; then, expert speakers will cover the latest breakthroughs in smart home technology, sustainability, and modern lifestyle, followed by lectures in collaboration with the American Society of Architects in the evening.

Today’s line up of speakers included: Abdulrahman Khaled Al-Mutawa,  Engineering Drawings Department Officer, Civil Defence who introduced ‘The technical requirements needed to approve and process your home build ; Ali A. Alraouf, Professor of Architecture and Urbanism, Hamad Bin Khalifa University who presented ‘Features of housing and residential neighborhoods in the post-Corona era’; and Daniel Gereis, Mohamed Eid and Ahmed El Didi from Bluu design who presented ‘The Relationship Between Architecture and Design from Client Brief to Build.’

It is still possible to gain knowledge, inspiration, and one-on-one advice. Tomorrow is the Knowledge Sharing Conference and Smart and Future Living Conference, which runs from 11 am to 8 pm.

The BYH Exhibition is open tomorrow from 10 am – 10 pm and is held at Halls 8 & 9 at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). To attend, visitors must pre-register, show their gold health status on the EHTERAZ app, and wear a facemask.
