The Cabinet of Qatar had held its regular meeting earlier today at the headquarters in the Amiri Diwan. The meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.
The Cabinet had approved a draft law organizing health care services within the country and referring it to the Shura Council.

The approval of the draft law that aims to regulate health services would mean that all expatriates and visitors will now need to have valid health insurance to be able to avail of basic health services in the State of Qatar.
The preparation of the draft law aims to provide an integrated, high-quality, efficient, and sustainable health system through the following measures.
The required policies, plans, procedures, systems, and standards will be established to enable health care services in governmental and private health facilities.
Determining and considering the rights and duties of patients when receiving health care services.
The provision of free health care services to citizens in government health facilities.
Visitors and ex-pats will now be required to obtain health insurance to be able to avail of basic health care services in Qatar.
