If you are in town, head over to the Souq Waqif to witness some colourful celebrations with your family.
The nine-day Souq Waqif Festival is back at the traditional Souq and the place is literally bursting with fun — roaming street performers, rides and games.
Thanks to the school break, thousands of visitors are expected to flock to the meeting point of cultures, reported The Peninsula.
An amusement park, with a number of carnival games and thrill rides, has been set up at the Al Ahmed Square.
“It’s school break and we wanted the children to enjoy outdoors while the weather is still cool. So we chose to come to the Souq Waqif,” Mark, a father of two, told The Peninsula.
Street performers and roaming artistes dressed in elaborate, eye-catching costumes, attracted the attention of many visitors. Business was also brisk at over a dozen food carts at Al Hamam Square.
