Community College of Qatar launches Qatar’s first associate diploma in Artificial Intelligence

The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has announced the launch of the Associate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and the Associate Diploma in Digital Media in the spring 2027 semester, as part of the college's efforts to keep pace with the requirements of digital transformation and the needs of the labor market, aiming to admit 108 students in the first cohort, with 48 seats for the Artificial Intelligence program and 60 seats for the Digital Media Program.

The Admission and Registration Department at the college clarified, in a statement today, that it will open the way for students currently registered in other majors to transfer to the two new programs starting from October 18, while the registration of new students wishing to join them will start on November 1, according to the approved admission conditions and controls.

The Associate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence, offered by the Department of Information Technology in the Science and Technology Sector at the College, represents the first associate diploma degree in this discipline at the level of the State of Qatar, as it extends over two academic years (60 hours earned) and relies on practical training in advanced laboratories with (GPU) technologies including the fields of machine learning, data analysis, computer vision, and artificial intelligence ethics, supported by recommendations from international technology companies such as "Google Cloud", "Huawei", "Microsoft", and "Cisco", with the possibility of Equivalency of up to 54 earned hours for those wishing to complete a bachelor's degree at Qatar University.

In this regard, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghashami, Dean of the Science and Technology Sector at the College, said that the launch of the program comes in response to the need for cadres with practical skills to support the digital transformation efforts in the country, pointing out that the college's surveys showed that 68 percent of students want to join the specialization, while 95 percent of employers confirmed that there is a need for its outputs in vital entities such as the Ministries of Defense and Interior, the National Cyber Security Agency, and Qatar Energy.

The Digital Media Program, offered by the Department of Arts and Literature in the Literature and Arts Sector over a two-year period, under the theme "Specialization of the Present and Future Opportunities in Qatar", offers an applied track that focuses on digital writing, podcast production, data journalism, and the use of artificial intelligence applications in media work.

Dr. Al-Jazi Al-Athba, Dean of the Arts and Literature Sector at the College, stressed that the program integrates modern technologies with an emphasis on professional responsibility and national identity to qualify graduates to work in media institutions, government sectors, and communication and marketing companies.

The launch of the two programs is in line with the inclusion of these disciplines among the priority areas in the Scholarship Plan and the Government Guide to Targeted Specializations, and in light of the projected growth of the artificial intelligence market in Qatar to reach $1.94 billion by 2030.
