Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today announced 1267 confirmed new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), with 1470 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in the State of Qatar to 63,642. The Ministry also announces four deaths.

MoPH states that in the last 24 hours, 11 new cases have been admitted to intensive care due to health complications related to the virus, bringing the total number of cases currently in intensive care to 230.

MoPH explains that the new cases had the virus transmitted to them from people who had been previously infected, as the Ministry continues to conduct investigative and proactive testing, which contributes to the early detection of cases.

The new confirmed cases of infection have been introduced to complete isolation in the various medical facilities in the country, where they receive the necessary healthcare according to the health status of each case.

Deaths recorded today were patients who were receiving the necessary medical care in intensive care and they were aged 77 years, 61 years, 43 years, and 41 years. The MoPH extends its sincere condolences and great sympathy to the families of the deceased.

The Ministry affirmed that Qatar's efforts to tackle COVID-19 have succeeded in flattening the curve, and reducing the impact of the virus mainly through the preventive measures taken and the cooperation of all members of society and that the number of new hospital admissions is now showing a limited decrease.

According to the Ministry, Qatar has now started to overcome the phase of the peak of the virus outbreak, with the beginning of its decline.

This has been made possible through the measures taken by the state to address it coupled with the commitment of the community members to recommendations and preventive instructions, the most important of which is social distancing and maintaining physical distancing and staying at home as well as avoiding going out except for the necessity and using medical masks.

Based on the extensive data and studies conducted by the concerned authorities in the country, Qatar started to lift the restrictions imposed to combat COVID-19 gradually in four stages, starting June 15 until September 1, the Ministry affirmed.

The Ministry stressed the application of preventive measures must continue to be implemented in the stages of gradually lifting the imposed restrictions, as failure to comply with the precautionary measures during the next stage will lead to the return of the virus.

Further, the Ministry said individuals who display symptoms of COVID-19 should either quickly contact the 16000 helplines or go directly to one of the designated health centers for testing. This is important to ensure early detection and appropriate treatment and care.

The four main testing centers are:

- Muaither Health Centre

- Rawdat Al Khalil Health Centre

- Um Slal Health Centre

- Al Gharafa Health Centre
