The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has once again reminded the public that the temporary COVID-19 vaccination center at Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) will only allow individuals with prior appointments to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Walk-ins are not permitted and those wanting to get vaccinated have been asked to register their interest on the MOPH site. "This will be recorded and saved and you will be contacted when you are eligible," the MoPH said.

In a series of tweets, the MoPH addressed yesterday's overcrowding incident at the QNCC stating that this happened due to "a significant number of people arriving at the same time for vaccination without an appointment."

"The high turnout temporarily resulted in a situation where social distancing was not being followed: this is not acceptable," the Ministry said.

MoPH added that it is working together with the relevant authorities to ensure the national vaccination program is carried out safely and efficiently "and that social distancing measures are strictly followed at all times."

Reminding everyone that vaccinations at QNCC are strictly by appointment, MoPH said, "You will only be allowed to enter the vaccine center following a verification process."

Qatar had unveiled the vaccination center at QNCC in February as it began expanding the national COVID-19 Vaccination Program.

During its first phase, the center provided vaccinations to teachers, school administration staff and other essential workers as well as community members who meet the eligibility criteria.

MoPH had earlier specified that vaccinations will only be administered to those who have received invitations via SMS to arrive for their appointments on the mentioned dates. All others had been asked to wait until it was their turn.
