In order to improve traffic flow and support the FIFA World Cup 2022 transportation strategy, Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has set off a lane on A-Ring Road only for permitted vehicles, public transportation, and taxis. This is in coordination with The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Transport, and Mowasalat (Karwa).
Public transportation buses, taxis, and permitted vehicles like emergency vehicles will all have access to the new lane. In order to support future stages of traffic enforcement and violation monitoring, the relevant traffic markings and directing signs have been created. A designated bus lane would speed up travel times, promote the use of public transportation, and cut down on the amount of private automobiles on the road. The lane will also make it easier for police and emergency vehicles to reach accident scenes more quickly.

During the World Cup, this will contribute to a convenient and environmentally friendly transportation experience for the community. The bus lane will dramatically reduce CO2 emissions and traffic congestion, notably at major intersections in Doha Central, in addition to speeding up transit during the World Cup. This is in keeping with actions that will be made during the competition to lessen the usage of private vehicles, since electric-powered, ecologically friendly buses will be used.
