DICID Chairman Highlights Qatar's Focus on Family Empowerment at Cairo Conference

HE Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Board of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, has highlighted Qatar's continued focus on family stability, empowerment and development.

Speaking on behalf of participating international organisations during the closing session of the 11th International Fatwa Conference in Cairo, Dr Al Nuaimi said Qatar places the family at the centre of a range of national and educational efforts.

He referred to national initiatives aimed at strengthening and empowering families, including a campaign launched by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, while stressing that a stable and supportive family plays a fundamental role in preparing children educationally, academically and psychologically.

Dr Al Nuaimi said DICID's participation in the conference reflects its commitment to contributing to discussions affecting the Islamic world and maintaining cooperation with official institutions, including Egypt's Dar Al Ifta.

He also addressed the challenges facing families amid globalisation and rapid developments in information and technology, warning that these changes can affect family values, cohesion and identity.

Dr Al Nuaimi stressed the importance of preserving family cohesion while engaging carefully with social and technological change, adding that responsibility for protecting the family is shared by parents, children, governments and civil institutions.

He said increasingly diverse societies also make interfaith dialogue an important tool for strengthening shared family values.

The conference focused on contemporary challenges affecting families in the context of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, including changes in human relationships, family stability, marital relations and the upbringing of children.

Participants included Muslim scholars, representatives of fatwa institutions, government figures, ambassadors, academics and researchers specialising in Islamic law.

Dr Al Nuaimi concluded by calling for continued cooperation and participation in conferences addressing family issues and the wider challenges facing Muslim societies.
