Qatar's 2026–2027 Judicial Season Begins With 156 Circuits and Expanded Digital Services

Qatar’s 2026–2027 judicial season begins today, September 1, as the Supreme Judiciary Council continues implementing its 2025–2030 strategy aimed at improving the justice system, accelerating case resolution and increasing the efficiency of judicial services.

HE Dr Hassan bin Lahdan Al Hassan Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council and President of the Court of Cassation, said the new season continues the development of Qatar’s justice system, with further work planned to reduce litigation times, improve services for court users and expand the use of digital solutions and modern technologies.

The judicial season begins with a total of 156 judicial circuits. These include six at the Court of Cassation, 14 at the Court of Appeal, 33 first-instance and appellate circuits at the Investment and Trade Court, and additional circuits across the Civil, Criminal, Family and Enforcement courts.

Performance indicators show that Qatar’s courts achieved an overall case disposal rate of 98.85% during 2025, covering 210,513 registered cases. More than 50,000 cases were registered during the first quarter of 2026.

Digital transformation remains a major focus. During 2025, the courts received around 109,981 requests through the courts portal and app, while 8,596 electronic services were completed through the system and app during the first quarter of 2026. The Family Documentation Department also delivered more than 65,000 electronic services during 2025.

The Council said remote litigation has demonstrated the readiness of the courts’ digital infrastructure, with more than 5,000 cases heard through video communication technologies. The Court of Cassation has also begun holding virtual sessions.

Further expansion of the virtual employee service through WhatsApp is planned, allowing users to complete certain procedures and obtain documents without logging into the courts portal.

The Council is also expanding the use of artificial intelligence following the launch of the Smart Judicial Assistant on the Criminal Court judge platform. The system supports comparisons with judicial precedents, identifies relevant legal provisions and summarises cases within a legal and procedural framework. Future plans include extending AI applications to civil courts and services for court users.

The new season will also see continued development of mediation and reconciliation services, including electronic systems for civil and commercial dispute resolution and expanded family reconciliation services.

Court service centres in Lusail, Dafna and Al Sadd operate from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm, while the Enforcement Court provides services in two periods, from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. Electronic services remain available through the courts portal and WhatsApp.
