With three fully operational lines hitting Doha’s commute scene and more in the pipeline, the small city has never been more interconnected. 

We’ve rounded up 6 spots you can reach by Doha’s Red Metro Line easily to bookmark for your next day out. Spanning the coast line of Doha, the city’s Red Metro Line stretches from north to south, covering 40 kilometers with 18 stations. 

First stop: Al Wakrah

The low beautiful walls of Qatar’s meserising Old Souq in Al Wakrah tell a unique story about the history of the country and its journey navigating between the demands of modernity and cherishing its past. 

Built following the popularity of Souq Waqif, today, Al Wakrah’s souq is a particular favourite with families and alike. Inside its sprawling streets you can sample local delicacies and spot traditional buys. From Arabic coffee pots, dallah, Bedouin weave carpets to spices and dates, the streets are brimming with colourful options and unique finds, all situated within a short distance from the calm promenade where you can catch the stunning sunset, take a dhow cruise, or stroll and soak in the enchanting ambience.

The New City: Lusail

Step aside Pearl, Lusail is the new cooler kid on the block, and doesn’t disappoint. The pedestrian friendly city gets its name from one of Qatar’s rarest flowers in tribute to the city’s uniqueness. Dubbed as the future city, Lusail was a project with contemporary urbanism, environmental sustainability and smart infrastructure at its heart. With its numerous food truck options and beautiful marina, Lusail is definitely stealing our hearts as the city’s new favourite spot!

The icon: Corniche 

Soak in Doha’s iconic skyline as you stroll the crescent shaped Corniche. From Al Dafna Park, one of the city’s most beautiful gaqrdens to the Museum of Islamic Art - the stunning promenade has a number of attractions to suit the entire family. Try the open-air cinema, soak in the 80ft-high steel sculpture or choose one of the many dining experiences along the serene waterfront. 

Culture capital: Katara

Named after an older iteration of the country’s name, Katara houses one of the most beautiful mosques in Qatar with its iconic blue tiles designed by the famous Turkish architect, Zeinab Fadil Oglu. 

Nestled in the cultural village between sandy buildings, you can often find pop ups, galleries or festivals happening on these grounds. Lose yourself as you stroll the grassy banks or discover the plethora of restaurants with breathtaking views of the sea. 

Alternatively, grab a chapati and karak and enjoy the beautiful theatres, exhibition galleries and modern facilities. 

The heart: Msheireb

The new social and civic hub in the city centre, Msheireb is the world’s first sustainable downtown regeneration project looking to revive the old commercial district with modern architecture that still pays homage to traditional Qatari heritage. 

Explore the four heritage houses that delve into key periods in Qatar’s history and evolution at the Msheireb Museums and discover culinary delights in the oldest part of the capital.
