The first Ramadan Book Fair, featuring 35 local and foreign publishing firms, kicks off this evening on the western side of Souq Waqif.
Thirteen local publishing houses, as well as 35 publishers from nine countries, will participate in the event's debut edition. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, India, and Australia are among the countries represented.
Qatar University Press, Imam Bukhari House, House of Culture, Samarkand Library, Visual Arts Centre, Nabja House for Publishing and Distribution, and Dar Al Sharq are among the local publishing houses.
The Ministry of Culture is organizing the book expo, which will be represented by Qatar Cultural and Heritage Events (QCHEC). The first-ever Ramadan Book Fair, according to QCHEC, is a continuation of the Doha International Book Fair (DIBF), which took place in January and lasted ten days.
"The Ramadan Book Fair aspires to localize literature by encouraging readership, assisting Qatari publishers with book marketing, and boosting readership," the event's Instagram post stated.
"Reading strengthens your cognitive abilities, ethically disciplines you, and unveils the knowledge of the world and its secrets to you," it continued.
