Qatari players recorded five victories in the fourth round of the Stage 1 qualifiers at the 10-Ball World Cup, which is being hosted by the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation for the third consecutive year and continues until 29 October, with former world champions and leading internationally ranked players taking part.
Qatar's promising 15-year-old player Nasser Al Saadi delivered an emphatic 7-0 victory over his 51-year-old Iraqi opponent Wessam Alahmedy, dominating the match from start to finish.
Following Al Saadi's example, his teammate Mohammed Saeed Al Ali earned a convincing 7-0 victory over Jordan's Mohammed Al Suyouf, controlling the match and quickly sealing the result without dropping a rack.
Mohammed Al Zahed also secured an important 7-1 victory over Filipino player Blaise Martin after a strong performance in which the Qatari controlled the match from beginning to end.
The Qatari winning run continued as Ali Saeed Al Ali narrowly defeated Lebanon's Hassan Khatib 7-5 following a closely contested match. Omar Al Khayarin also prevailed 7-4 over Lebanon's Mohammed Asfour in a similarly competitive encounter.
Among the other results involving Qatari players, 13-year-old Sultan Al Yafei, one of the country's leading emerging talents, narrowly lost 4-7 to Kuwait's Abdullah Al Saleh after a technically impressive match from both players.
Abdulaziz Al Awadi lost 1-7 to the Philippines' Rogelio Sotero, Rashid Al Yafei fell 2-7 to Filipino player Robin Kuna, Rakan Al Yafei lost 0-7 to Pakistan's Sultan Muzammil, Mohammed Al Yafei was beaten 1-7 by the Philippines' Israel Rota, Tamim Al Dehneim lost 2-7 to Saudi Arabia's Khalid Al Alyani, and Mohammed Al Mansouri was defeated 0-7 by Pakistan's Ali Muzammil.
Four additional players advanced to the main draw, or Stage 2: Filipino players Miguel Salvela and Jundel Mazon, Vietnam's Nguyen Phuc Long and Saudi Arabia's Hassan Al Nahari.
The four players secured their qualification places in the third and penultimate round of the Stage 1 qualifiers after each recorded five consecutive victories and reached the semi-finals.
Miguel Salvela claimed the first qualification place after defeating Belarusian player Ilya Dzidzulia 7-2 in the quarter-finals.
Jundel Mazon also advanced after beating Kuwait's Hussain Alayadhi 7-0 in the same round, while Nguyen Phuc Long qualified by defeating the Philippines' Robin Kuna 7-5 in the quarter-finals.
Hassan Al Nahari secured the fourth qualification place from the third round and the second Stage 1 qualification berth for an Arab player after defeating Egypt's Amr Abdeltawab 7-6 in the final quarter-final match. The tightly contested encounter lasted more than two hours and was decided only in the final rack.
Among the leading results for Arab players, Algeria's Walid Taleb Ben Diab defeated Saudi Arabia's Ibrahim Khazindar 7-5, Saudi Arabia's Tariq Al Shammari beat Jordan's Ahmed Al Suleiman 7-5, Saudi Arabia's Omar Al Harbi overcame Bahrain's Nasser Ali 7-5, Kuwait's Omar Alshaheen defeated Oman's Nasser Al Hinaai 7-5, and Kuwait's Nasser Boqamber beat India's Arif Solkar 7-1.

Mishlash Hamad Al Khayarin, chairman of the Referees Committee at the 10-Ball World Cup, said the committee had assembled a team of 20 referees to officiate matches across morning and evening sessions, ensuring that the competition proceeds according to the highest organisational and refereeing standards. Two reserve referees are also available to cover any emergencies and ensure that matches continue without delay.
Al Khayarin said the competition was producing strong technical performances due to the participation of leading billiards players from around the world. He added that the matches were proceeding smoothly and that the committee had received no objections, reflecting the readiness and competence of the refereeing team.
He added that the Referees Committee was committed to providing everything required for the tournament's success by assigning referees to the morning and evening sessions in accordance with the competition programme and maintaining two reserves to handle any developments, ensuring the smooth running of matches and preserving the tournament's high organisational standard.
Al Khayarin said world championships always attract broad participation from different countries, while tournaments hosted by Qatar draw elite players and leading international competitors because of the country's strong reputation, extensive organisational expertise, quality sports facilities, excellent organisation and warm hospitality. These factors, he said, have made Doha a preferred destination for hosting major international sporting events.
He concluded by affirming that the committee would continue its work throughout the tournament to ensure the application of rules and regulations and fairness for every player. He expressed hope that the competition would maintain the same high standard until its conclusion, reflecting Qatar's distinguished position in organising major international sporting championships.
