The most anticipated event of 2022, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ is less than a month away and Qatar is expected to host a high influx of guests starting November 1. To enter the country, fans need to have a Hayya Card, which acts as a method of identification for ticket-holders in the country. The card will be used to enter Qatar, access stadiums, and enhance your experience among other benefits.

Who needs a Hayya card?

All match ticket holders, local and international, must apply for a digital Hayya Card. This is your entry permit to the State of Qatar and your stadium access (along with your match ticket). International fans will also need to declare their accommodation plans to receive final approval on their digital Hayya Card.

You can get the Hayya card immediately through the Hayya app. However, officials have clarified that the Hayya Card is operated by the Qatari Government and FIFA is not responsible for the application, issuance, and use of the card.

To apply for a Hayya card, citizens and residents must provide their ticket number, Qatar ID number, and date of birth information, whilst visitors must provide their ticket number, accommodation details, and personal information.

Get your accommodation sorted

Part of the approval process means being transparent about your stay during the tournament. You have a plethora of options when it comes to staying at hotels, which you will find on the website as well. However, if you are planning on staying with your family or friends, you will need to register their property under the Alternative Accommodation tab. Guests simply need to travel to Qatar using the passport details added in the Alternative Accommodation section.

Do I need a visa to enter Qatar for the World Cup?

Citizens from other countries who are coming to attend the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™do not need a visa as long as they have a valid Hayya Card. The card will act as your entry permit and no standard visas are going to be issued in Qatar during this time. Just make sure you have tickets to the FIFA World Cup matches and an approved Hayya card or are sponsored by a Hayya card holder.

Access to discounts

Exclusive discounts to events and entertainment programs are available for Hayya card holders. You will be able to access these via your Hayya app as well. 

Free SIM card

Ooredoo is giving all Hayya fans a free SIM card! The SIM comes with free 2022 data, minutes, and SMS - valid for 3 days. From November 1st, you can easily order an eSIM or a physical sim card and you can either preorder the sim or obtain it as soon as you land.

The physical SIM cards can be collected at the airport or at any Ooredoo SIM card dispensers which are strategically located all over Qatar and will be available for pickup starting November 1, 2022. You can also have the eSIM delivered to your mail by registering, making the Hayya SIM easily accessible.

Hayya Card for dependants

All fans, local and international, need to have a Hayya card. As children cannot apply for the card themselves, adults are allowed to apply for them under dependents. 

An adult can add up to 10 dependents under his/her card as long as they are under the age of 18. You need to make sure your application is complete before adding dependents to your Hayya card.

Access to Hayya with me (1 + 3)

International Hayya card-holder fans can now avail the "Hayya with me (1+3)" feature and invite up to three non-ticketed fans to attend Qatar World Cup 2022.

The non-ticketed fans will have to pay a non-refundable QR 500 fee, cannot have a Qatar ID, and must have a current passport. Additionally, they must confirm their lodging in Qatar for the competition. Children under 12 will not be charged. 

All you need to do is log in to your Hayya account and get a ‘Voucher code”, which your guests will use to apply for their Hayya entry. Your guest will need to make an account and apply the same voucher number and click on ‘Validate my Voucher’. They will get access to submit their application which includes information such as passport details, emergency contact information, and recent photos of them. The guests will receive their entry permit to the State of Qatar via email which they will have to show at the airport then.

Import your pets to Qatar during your stay

You can now bring your pets with you for the tournament as well! A valid import permit must be presented with dogs and cats no later than 30 days before the animal is expected to arrive in Qatar. All cats and dogs must have an electronic or microchip implanted. However, a clearance is required for large and dangerous dog breeds and your pets must leave with you as you exit the country.
