Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) will virtually participate in the 2020 edition of Frankfurter Buchmesse (the Frankfurt International Book Fair) on October 14 – 18, marking its fourth consecutive year showcasing at the world’s largest book fair.

It was announced earlier this year that the 2020 edition of the book fair would be a blend of the traditional exhibition site as well as a committed online platform for publishers abroad.

Restrictions on travel and safety imposed as a result of the COIVID 19 pandemic has forced the organizers to revamp this year’s event. The interactive virtual event will provide the flexibility to participate without compromising the quality of the experience or safety measures and travel precautions in place.

According to Bachar Chebaro, Executive Director of Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press, the global pandemic has presented with an opportunity to find innovative solutions to participate in both local and global publishing industries.

HBKU Press’ virtual ‘booth’ represents over eleven years of the publishing house’s catalogue of acclaimed works and innovative publications, from award-winning original titles in both English and Arabic to translated works by globally recognized authors and translators.

Through its participation in such fairs, HBKU Press aims to maintain its standing as the leading choice for publishing in Qatar, to attract and inspire new authors, illustrators and translators, and to be a cornerstone of Qatar’s knowledge-based economy.
