Qatar’s focus on quality education to create some of the best learning environments across the globe are mirrored in the excellent performance of many students in the country.
In the latest such achievements is that of a PhD student, Mohammed Al Housani, who has earned a gold medal at the 47th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, according to Qatar News Agency.
Currently enrolled in the Sustainable Energy program at Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Science and Engineering (CSE), Al Housani received the prestigious award at the international exhibition that featured more than 825 exhibitors from as many as 42 countries.

According to a press release by Inventions Geneva, more than 35,000 visitors attended the four-day exhibition, which is the largest inventions display in the world.
Industrial and commercial companies, universities, inventors, and researchers as well as other private and state organizations present their cutting-edge inventions, the results of their research and their new products at this mega event.
Qatar’s Al Housani completed his Master’s thesis on drone-based cleaning technology and strategies for solar PV farms in desert climates, including that of Qatar.
His PhD dissertation research at HBKU focuses on entrepreneurial ecosystem capacity development and aims to put forth potential solutions for economic diversification and sustainable development.
HBKU’s CSE presents 12 graduate degrees at the Master’s and PhD levels, each catering to a sub-set of critical challenges facing the region and beyond.
The College’s Sustainable Development Division particularly focuses on energy and the environment – areas considered crucial for the needs of generations to come.
