Minister of State for Energy Affairs: Hormuz Remains Vital as Qatar Targets Top LNG Trading Role
Speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum Special Edition in New York, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and QatarEnergy President and CEO Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi said transporting liquefied natural gas by pipeline makes no economic sense, as it would render Qatar’s major LNG facilities redundant.
He said the Strait of Hormuz should not be described as obsolete, noting that it carries the trade of all Gulf countries. He also said Qatar would soon become the world’s largest LNG trader by far.
