The dedicated efforts of competent authorities have played a tremendous role in curbing the spread of COVID-19 in Qatar.
The series of preventive and precautionary measures, put in place much earlier, have allowed the country to move forward with the implementation of the final phases of its gradual lifting of the COVID-19 plan.
Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari yesterday underlined the significant contribution of the National Command Center (NCC) while meeting with senior officials at the center.
During her visit, HE the Minister highlighted the support from key teams at NCC that worked together with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) to overcome challenges in Qatar’s fight against COVID-19 through different strategies.

"Since the onset of the pandemic, the National Command Center played a vital role in Qatar's measures to protect the population from COVID-19. The Center supports the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, the National COVID-19 Committee, and the different ministries in achieving their goals. It receives information from across the country and acts as our reference center and our information hub," HE Dr Al Kuwari said.
She thanked HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, for his leadership and for making this state-of-the-art center that is equipped with the latest technologies as well as a "resourceful and talented task force."
"I am deeply indebted to all the ministries and entities that have contributed to our national COVID-19 response," HE the Minister added.
She further stressed collective responsibility and the need to continue following precautionary measures.
"It is very important for everyone to work together and stay vigilant. Now more than ever it is important to wear your masks, and keep your physical distance as the risk of spread of COVID-19 remains high," she said.
Major-General Khalifa Abdullah Al Nuaimi, head of the NCC said, "Our teams at the National Command Center have been working 24 hours a day in collaboration with all government agencies to maintain security and safety during the pandemic under the supervision of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management."
“Qatar has shown great strength and resilience throughout the pandemic and this has been achieved through a comprehensive, cross-sectoral approach to the country’s COVID-19 strategy," he added.
"The Ministry of Interior is proud of the role the National Command Center has played in supporting Qatar’s healthcare sector during this national crisis,” he said.
