Bringing some of the world’s finest thoroughbred and Arabian horses on the competition arena vying for the prestigious winner’s title, HH The Amir Sword Festival has begun in Doha this afternoon.
The three-day tournament is being held at the Al Rayyan Racecourse in Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, Doha.

This is one of the most prominent international horse racing tournaments in the region seeing the world’s best horses competing in the different categorized races, according to Qatar Tribune.
The festival is open for the public to attend free-of-cost presenting a stunning collection of horses racing against each other to claim the champion’s title.
A number of exciting prizes will be presented to fans who make the trip to the venue to watch the action as it unfolds at the QREC, the home of horse racing in Qatar, reported The Peninsula.
Those who wish to watch the races from the comfort of their homes may do so as the races are being broadcasted live online at www.qrec.gov.qa as well as on Al Kass Sport Channels.

This afternoon will witness riders run over 2000m while competing for the Al Zubara Trophy. The top prize in this category is $85,000 with $33,000 offered to the second-best rider. The third-best will walk away with $16,500.
On day two, tomorrow, the riders will battle it out in the main event of the festival, the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup. The first one to reach the finish line will win $114,000 with the second one getting $44,000. The third-winner would be given $22,000.
The most prestigious part of the tournament, the Amir’s Trophy will be presented on the last day of the festival. The race is worth $1m with the top rider to be given $570,000, the second $220,000 and the third $110,000.
The Amir’s Sword sponsored by Al Hazm will mark the conclusion of the Festival with riders aiming for the top prize worth $570,000. The second rider in this category will win $220,000 and the third will take home $110,000, according to The Peninsula.

Qatar Airways is the official airlines partner for this festival and will be presenting the winners’ trophies at the award ceremonies on February 23.
