HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is on a visit to different countries across the world, arrived in Kazakhstan on Wednesday evening.

Sheikh Tamim then held high-level talks with Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Akorda Presidential Palace in Astana.

HH The Amir also took part in the Astana International Forum, at the Convention Center in Astana, on Thursday.

A number of top officials, heads of state and governments, as well as representatives of regional and international organizations attended the forum.

HH The Amir visited Kyrgyzstan and held talks with the country’s President Sadyr Japarov before flying into Astana.

Earlier, the Kazakh President warmly welcomed HH the Amir and his accompanying delegation to the country, thanking him for accepting the invitation to attend the Astana International Forum.

Tokayev said his country considered Qatar as one of its most important partners in the Middle East, pointing to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations. He expressed hopes of further strengthening the relations and cooperation between the two countries at all levels.

HH the Amir, who expressed his gratitude to Kazakhstan, noted that it was his third visit to the country. He said he was looking forward to further advancing the friendship between the two nations. He felt there was enormous potential for cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

The official talks were attended by Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of Culture HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and a number of other high-ranking members.

The Kazakh delegation consisted of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Timur Suleimenov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin, among others.

HH The Amir left Astana on Thursday, and will next visit Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan.
