Qatar and Turkey have maintained strong strategic ties over the years. The two countries have continually worked toward consolidating the Qatari-Turkish relations through cooperation across several fields including politics, trade, economy, investment and culture, projects related to the hosting of World Cup 2022, among others.
The leaders of the two countries hold each other in high regard and have routinely held discussions over issues of mutual concern as well as developments in the region and across the globe.
Earlier this month, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Qatar and held talks with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. This marked the Turkish leader's first overseas trip since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two leaders vowed to take the Turkish-Qatari relations to new heights.
Today, HH the Amir met with Turkey's Minister of the National Defence Lieutenant General Hulusi Akar at Al Bahr Palace.
The Turkish Minister was accompanied by an official delegation.

Qatar and Turkey have maintained strong military ties, which were boosted in 2017 when two days after the start of the Gulf crisis, Turkey allowed Turkish troops to be deployed in Qatar and approved an accord on military training cooperation.
The agreements aimed to raise Qatar's defence capabilities, support "counterterror" efforts, and maintain security and stability in the region.
