The region's most-anticipated football tournament, the Arabian Gulf Cup, is set to go underway tonight.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will open the prestigious event at the Khalifa International Stadium, Qatar News Agency has confirmed.

All eight teams participating in the tournament have arrived in Qatar, including the national teams of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.

The first match of the tournament will see Al Annabi take on Iraq's Lions at the Khalifa International Stadium. The pre-match activities will start at 4.30 pm while the game will begin at 7.30 pm.

Relevant security authorities in the country have confirmed that all security measures are in place for the success and safety of the tournament.

Ashghal announced yesterday that some roads surrounding the stadiums will be closed from 12 pm to 12 am during the game days of the Arabian Gulf Cup 2019.
