His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Armenian President Armen Sarkissian held official talks at the Amiri Diwan yesterday.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them further through cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, and food security.

HH the Amir and President Sarkissian also exchanged views on some issues of common concern.

Several ministers from Qatar attended the meeting. Members of the official delegation accompanying the Armenian president were also present on the occasion.

An official reception was held for the President of Armenia upon his arrival at the Amiri Diwan.

Later, HH the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of the Armenian president and the delegation accompanying him.

The Armenian President Armen Sarkissian also met with HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani at his residence on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they discussed the development of relations between Qatar and Armenia, in addition to issues of common interest.

Furthermore, President Sarkissian and his wife held talks with Her Excellency Sheikha Moza bint Nasser. The discussion focused on areas of mutual interest including the need for innovation in education and research.

Qatar and Armenia relations have been growing strong in many sectors since their establishment on November 5, 1997.

These relations have been cemented over the years through official visits by senior officials from both sides, notably the visits of former Armenian president Robert Kocharyan to Doha in 2002 and former Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan in 2009 and 2017.

Earlier, President Sarkissian had praised his country's strong relations with Qatar and highlighted his aspiration to strengthen them, especially in the commercial and economic fields.

Qatar participated in the Armenian Summit of Minds held in Dilijan, Armenia, in June 2019 along with representatives of 27 countries and more than 100 prominent figures from Armenia and abroad.

The discussions focused on geopolitical processes in Eurasia and the Middle East, advanced technologies, management, artificial intelligence, and digital economy, entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership in the 21st century, the dialogue of civilizations and currency policies.
