His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has been invited to attend the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh on December 10, 2019.

HH the Amir received a written message from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia inviting His Highness to attend the 40th session of the GCC Supreme Council.

His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani received the message, during his meeting today with HE Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

This is another positive sign that the Gulf crisis may be thawing, following the participation of the national teams of the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in the Arabian Gulf Cup currently underway in Qatar.

Kuwait's Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al Jarallah said on Monday evening that Kuwait hopes the Gulf summit would be represented at the highest level, expressing optimism about a near healing of the Gulf rift and resolving differences among Arabian "Gulf brothers," according to Xinhua.
