As an expression of strong and deep-rooted relations between Qatar and Pakistan, the Pakistani President Dr Arif Alvi honored His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani with Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country’s highest civil award.
The awarding ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace Aiwan-e-Sadr on the sidelines of the meeting between HH the Amir and the Pakistani President as part of the Qatari ruler’s two-day visit to Pakistan.

In addition to HH the Amir’s official delegation, several top officials and ministers from Pakistan were also in attendance at the ceremony.
Earlier, HH the Amir and Dr Alvi reviewed Qatar-Pakistan relations and discussed ways to further strengthen them.
The two sides agreed to increase cooperation across various fields with a focus on the economy, investment, and energy.
The two leaders also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern.

HH the Amir was accorded a luncheon banquet hosted by the Pakistani president.
Later, HH the Amir was seen off at the Noor Khan Air Base by Special Adviser to the Pakistani Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs Zulfi Bukhari accompanied by Qatar’s ambassador to Pakistan Saqr bin Mubarak Al-Mansouri, Pakistan’s ambassador to Qatar Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, and some other senior officials.

The visit serves as a significant step in further cementing ties between the two friendly countries.
Several agreements were signed during this visit in the areas of trade, investment, tourism, and combating terrorism.

HH the Amir's last visit to Pakistan was four years ago, in 2015.
