HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani reiterated his call for collective action to support Palestinians in establishing an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He said this measure, taken in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, was the basis for stability and peace in the Middle East.

HH the Amir, in a post on his handle on X, formerly known as Twitter, said he had participated Tuesday in the Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo, where they discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.

Sheikh Tamim said Qatar looked forward to consolidating efforts and intensifying collective action and coordination with all brothers to support the fraternal Palestinian people in obtaining their full legitimate rights.

Meanwhile, Arab leaders endorsed an Egyptian plan for Gaza’s reconstruction that would allow its residents to remain in the territory. The decision was taken during the Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo.

During the meeting, regional leaders endorsed the counterproposal to US President Donald Trump’s plan to expel Gaza’s 2.3m residents and redevelop the Palestinian territory, said Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Egypt’s plan includes an initial recovery phase aimed at de-mining the territory and providing temporary housing, followed by a longer reconstruction phase focused on rebuilding essential infrastructure, said reports.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who heads the Palestinian Authority, said he welcomed Egypt’s idea and urged Trump to support such a plan that would not involve displacing Palestinian residents.
