Qatar and Turkey have enjoyed solid bilateral ties for decades. The relations between the two nations have grown even stronger in recent years, particularly since Turkey's swift support to Qatar in the early days of the Gulf crisis.
Last year, the Adviser to the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said Qatar is Turkey's strongest ally, stating that the Qatari-Turkish relations are an exemplary Islamic example.
The two countries have joined hands under several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in fields, including political, trade partnerships, economic, and investment, energy affairs, manufacturing, industry, education, media, healthcare, tourism, and projects related to the hosting of World Cup 2022.
As Qatar and Turkey seek to further cement ties in various fields, the leaders of the two nations are set to meet in Turkey today.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will be heading to Ankara today for an official visit, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
HH the Amir and the Turkish President will chair the sixth meeting of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee.
The sixth session will focus on bolstering the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries in various fields. It will also see the two sides exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed on the sidelines of the meeting.
After the fifth session of the Committee, which was held last year, HH the Amir had said that the Qatari-Turkish partnership is progressing toward its goals successfully.
Last year, the following agreements were signed as part of the session:
- Amending currency-swap agreement signed between Qatar Central Bank and the Central Bank of Turkey.
- An agreement between the government of Qatar and the government of Turkey on cooperation in the manufacturing and the technology fields.
- A Memorandum of Understanding between the Qatar Financial Center and the financial office of the presidency in Turkey.
- An MoU between Qatar Investment Promotion Agency and the investment office at the presidency of Turkey.
- An MoU in the field of urban planning between the governments of Qatar and Turkey.
- A declaration of intent between the Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology (QS) and the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE).
- A Memorandum of Understanding in the field of standards between the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE).
