Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Ambulance Service has set up an effective strategic plan in the case of potential emergencies during the Eid holiday.
Based on data acquired over years concerning accident-prone areas and analyzed by a computer system, 125 ambulances, critical care paramedics, bicycles, and golf carts are on standby around the country.
Ali Darwish, Assistant Executive Director of the Ambulance Service, explained that more people are likely to visit new places during the holiday.
As a result, HMC’s Ambulance Service is planning to provide uninterrupted service to the people in Qatar.
Ambulances will be stationed in areas where more people and traffic are expected to congregate, such as beach areas in Sealine, Gahariya, Al Wakra, Semaisima, and the Corniche.
Moreover, at sites like the Souq Waqif, Aspire Zone, and Katara, bicycles and golf carts are assigned. On the other hand, three Ambulance Service Life Flights will be transferring more serious cases.
Other community services, like supported discharge (IV antibiotics, dressings at home), patient transfers, long-term care for housebound senior patients, and services at established institutions, would continue as usual.
Darwish pointed out that the Ambulance Service receives 800 calls per day for emergency situations and 300 calls for non-emergency services on average.
He added that the Ambulance service offers safe transportation as all ambulances are fully sterilized and disinfected, in addition to the paramedics being equipped with personal protective equipment to keep them safe from potential infection.
Darwish also reminded the public of the significance of providing accurate information to the dispatcher, such as the type of the emergency and its precise location, as well as following the operator's instructions on how to behave at the scene of the incident and what to do until aid arrives.
Additionally, callers should pay attention to the operator's inquiries and respond as correctly as possible.
