The Committee responsible for the crescent sighting of the holy month of Ramadan at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that Monday, May 6 will be the first day of Ramadan, also regarded as the month of Mercy.

According to a tweet on the Ministry's official twitter page, Sunday, May 5 will be the last day of the month of Sha'ban.

The announcement came after the committee held its meeting earlier this evening at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, headed by Dr Thaqil al-Shemari.

Preparations for the welcome of the most blessed month have been underway for a while now with the Ministry of Interior stepping up security measures to ensure the highest level of safety and security is maintained in the country as people mark Ramadan.
