How to become a member

All citizens and residents of Qatar are eligible to get a free membership card at the Qatar National Library. According to the Qatar National Library website, you will be required to fill an application form and attach a copy of your Qatari ID or residence permit during the registration process. Individuals under 18 and 18+ have separate registration forms. Once your account has been confirmed via email, you can log into your library account.

Benefits of being a member

Once you become a member, you will have access to QNL’s online resources which include 500,000 e-books, newspapers, periodicals and other materials. Additionally, you may borrow books from the Library’s print collection, access the Heritage Library, and participate in all of the Library’s academic, educational and public programs and events.

Upon logging into your Library membership account, you will be able to check loans and due dates, view requested items, renew items and view fines, fees or blocks on your account.

Renew your library membership

Your membership with the Library expires with the expiration of your Qatari ID or Residency Permit. One can easily renew their membership by sending an email attached with a scanned copy of your renewed document to circreg@qnl.qa. The same email can be used to obtain a new PIN.

Loss of membership card

If you lose your membership card, you are still responsible for all materials, fines and fees. Moreover, there is a payment of 50 Qatari riyals for losing your card.
