Hyatt Plaza provides the opportunity to experience the community spirit and physical hardship of Ramadan to Non-Muslims.

The organisers have arranged a Fast-a-Thon event which encourages Non-Muslims to register with them and fast for the day.

For every person who registers and Fasts, Hyatt Plaza and Qatar Charity will donate 200 QAR on his or her behalf to encourage education in Somalia.

WHY EDUCATION IN SOMALIA?

In the best orphanages, all lessons are thought in either Somali or Arabic with a little or no English. Graduates from the hundreds of orphanage schools across the country have no future upon graduation, as the vast majority of universities in the country teach mainly in English.

Most high school graduates end up as street merchants, while many others attempt to enter Europe as refugees by tacking overcrowded boats across the Mediterranean Sea in which thousands lose their lives.

A number of others out of desperation become easy foot soldiers for Shabaab extremist causing havoc and slaughter in the south of the country.

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

Renowned scholar Dr. Bilal Philips has created a pilot project, ‘help the orphans’ Intensive English Course (IEC) that will make 500 bright children proficient in English.

Hyatt Plaza along with Qatar Charity have decided to raise funds for this project, in order to increase the chances of them getting a higher education and becoming productive members in society.

JOIN FAST-A-THON NOW, AND CHANGE AN ORPHAN’S LIFE.

This year's cause: English course for Somalia orphans.

Date: 26th and 27th June 2015.
