The fourth edition of the Katara Prize for the Prophet’s Poets launched on September 22, under the patronage and support of the strategic partner, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
The first day of the event comprised of qualifying of the Classic poem category, where 15 participants from this category competed in three episodes. Five participants were qualified for the semi-finals at the end of the episodes.

On the second day, 15 participants will compete for the Nabati poem category, and five participants will be qualified for the semi-finals.
The semi-finals will begin tomorrow, September 25, during which three winners will be selected from the Classic poem category. For the Nabati poem category, semi-finals will be held on September 26.
This year, the Prize Committee received 1158 poems, the largest number of entries since its inception in 2016.
For the Nabati Poem category, 15 poems out of 76 entries were nominated whereas 15 poems out of 1082 entries were nominated for the Classic Poem category.
Katara will be giving grand prizes to the winners. The first winner will receive QAR 1,000,000, the second winner will receive QAR 70,000, and the third winner will receive QAR 400,000 in both Classic and Nabati poem category.
The closing ceremony will be held on Friday, September 27 from 8:00 pm at the Opera House in Katara Cultural Village.
