On Sunday the 15th Qatar University launched it's cultural village, the 8th edition. The cultural village is a student powered activity that strives to bring together the different backgrounds that the student body, and even the faculty, represents.
Under the naming of "Bab Rizq," which stands for the door of income (Livelihood/life); the cultural village this year is about how people work in different c,"countries. "The cultural village presents an opportunity to show the culture of our country as well as the games and traditional clothes and cuisines" said one of the students from the Somali wing. A student from the Palestinian wing added, this is a great opportunity for us to show our traditions to broad spectrum of audience; our wing presents the life of a Palestinian farmer and the simple life he lead and our play present the season of crops.

The cultural village does not restrict to jus wings in which each culture showcases a part of its country, it also extends to a theater show, which is open for. The theater show ranges from one to another, some share a dance while others perform a play.
Salwa Zainal, QU’s head of the Annual Events and Special Projects Section, said: “This highly popular and inspirational event is a great chance to bridge the cultural gap between students who come from different countries around the globe. It also shows our students’ engagement and excellent organisational and teamwork skills to produce a display of culture, heritage and diversity of community, of which Qatar University is proud. We encourage all students to participate in this event and share their own culture and heritage with their colleagues, QU members and the wider Qatar community.”
The variety and beauty of it all is what makes it quite the success.
