The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has been taking a no-nonsense approach towards shops and establishments that break the law ad cheat customers.

In the latest example of this, the MEC has closed a shopping centre in the Industrial Area for a month for selling counterfeit beauty products, reported Gulf Times.

Meanwhile, the MEC also carried out a surprise inspection campaign on tailor shops in Souq Al Ali. The campaign covered 30 shops and resulted in the seizure and issuance of three violations related to the failure to advertise prices, reported The Peninsula.

Through these campaigns, the ministry seeks to crack down on violations, price manipulation and counterfeit and substandard products.
