Qatar’s Meteorology Department has warned residents and seafarers to brace for severe weather conditions on Sunday.

According to the Met Department’s daily weather report, hazy conditions will prevail inland on Sunday, with temperatures ranging from moderate to relatively hot during the daytime. There is also a likelihood of scattered rain showers intermittently throughout the day.

Offshore, the situation is anticipated to be worse, with hazy conditions giving way to partly cloudy skies. The report says thundery rain could strike by evening, accompanied by strong winds and tumultuous seas.

Inland, winds are forecasted to blow south-easterly to easterly, ranging between 7 to 17 knots and going up to 25 knots at intervals. Similarly, offshore regions are expected to experience south-easterly to north-easterly winds, also reaching similar speeds, especially during thundery rain episodes.

Visibility both inland and offshore is predicted to be limited, ranging between four to eight kilometers. However, offshore visibility may further decrease to three kilometers or less during thundery rain.

Regarding sea conditions, inshore areas are expected to experience waves surging between one to three feet, escalating to four feet during thundery rain spells.

Offshore, sea states are predicted to be more treacherous, with waves ranging between two to four feet, but surging to a staggering eight feet in certain locations during rain.

Due to the potentially hazardous weather conditions, the Department has advised the public to exercise caution and stay updated for further advisories.
