On Thursday, HE Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, the minister of transportation, reviewed air navigation facilities and examined preparations by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

The minister visited the Control Tower at Hamad International Airport, which is fully equipped with highly advanced air navigation systems that are up to date with international standards. Due to the predicted increase in air traffic, HIA will be able to provide first-rate service to tournament-goers.

The minister also oversaw an inspection of the state-of-the-art Qatar Air Traffic Control Center.

The Qatar Air Traffic Control Tower is unmatched by any ATC in the Middle East region and enables air controllers to remotely control and monitor ground traffic, including the movement of planes and vehicles. The facility houses a communication, navigation, and surveillance (CNS) office, a search and rescue service,a radar simulator, an aeronautical information service, and a hi-tech 360-degree 3D simulator room.

Next, HE  Sulaiti went to the Firefighting and Rescue Department. Major responsibilities of this unit include continuous monitoring of airport ground traffic (approach, landing, ramp, and parking sectors) and the development of initial responses to any unforeseen incidents.
