In a move to put an end to violations by all state farms, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Municipality of Al Shehaniya, yesterday launched a campaign to remove all illegal structures in the farms located within the municipality.

The campaign is in line with the provisions of the Public and Private State Property Law and Building Regulation Law.

MME is carrying out the campaign with the support of the General Cleanliness Department, the Department of Mechanical Equipment of the Ministry and the security authorities in the State.

Director of the Al Shehaniya Municipality, Jaber Hassan Al Jaber said that the campaign is focused on removing all illegal structures in the farms, which comprise buildings for workers' housing, stores, garages, etc., that are used by farmers for non-agricultural purposes and are in violation of the certificate of possession granted to the owner of the farm.

The municipality has taken the necessary legal measures against these violations since the beginning of this year in coordination with the concerned authorities, Al Jaber mentioned.

The notices of removal were given to the owners of farms, companies, workshops, and stores, according to Al Jaber.

The MME further highlighted that the measures taken against the infringing farms include making a record of the offense and issuing warning to the violators to remove the illegal structure and evacuate housing units, as well as removal by force in the case the eviction notice is not complied with.

The ministry further urged all farm owners to abide by the laws governing the activity and work of the farms.

MME stressed on the importance of using the farms for agricultural activity, particularly to address the requirements of food security in the country.

All companies using violating sites and facilities have been asked to vacate the sites to avoid legal action.

The drive will continue until all such violations have been removed by the end of this year.

Earlier, the Ministry also launched a campaign aimed at removing abandoned cars from all over Qatar, in a bid to enhance the general ambiance of Qatar’s public places.
