The official website Twitter handle of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) announced that vaccinated and recovered students are exempt from taking the weekly rapid antigen test, starting next week.

MoEHE, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has carefully assessed the ongoing risk factors in the pandemic situation and reached the decision of exempting students who are vaccinated and recovered from Covid-19 from taking the rapid antigen test. However, they are required to present a vaccination certificate proving they have been administered with both doses of vaccine in the last nine months or a certificate of recovery from their affiliated health center.

The Ministry clarified that all unrecovered and unvaccinated students continue to be obligated to submit their weekly rapid antigen test results. Public school students will continue to be provided with the testing devices from their schools.

The random examinations can continue to carry on for all educational levels, as decided by the health teams of MoPH.

The Ministry of Education has also asked schools to return to pre-Covid-19 school timings, which are effective from February 20, 2022. Keeping all precautionary measures in place, the timings of all school lessons, start and end of school day, and recess timing can return to the normal timings that were the norm before the pandemic.

Further, the Ministry has also approved the return to teaching students physical education, implementing extra-curricular school activities, and taking students on field trips: in accordance with prescribed measures.

The emphasis continues to remain on physical distancing, wearing of face masks, and good ventilation in classrooms and administrative offices.
