Under its continued focus on security and safety in Qatar, particularly as the 2022 FIFA World Cup draws closer, the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has launched a five-day training course on crisis and disaster management.

At least 43 officers from various MoI departments are participating in the training program, which aims to equip them with the skills needed to deal with major security crises, emergencies, potential hazards and risks, and steps to identify and address the issues.

The training program encompasses several theoretical lectures and practical exercises, where participants learn how to plan special events, develop a crisis response plan, build awareness of situations, among other security management matters.

Speaking at the opening session of the program, Director of Planning and Quality Department at MoI, Brigadier Abdul Rahman Majid Al Sulaiti, stressed on the significance of the training program, in which the officers in charge of field missions are actively involved in implementing the security plans for the 2022 World Cup.

He further said that the MoI has adopted the task of preparing its officials to face the threats and potential risks under its commitment to ensuring security and stability during the major sporting event in Qatar.

The official explained that the MoI has a security plan in place for the 2022 World Cup that includes linking all stakeholders in the country, with the participation of the private sector, to achieve security and protection from potential risks and various threats.

Colonel Abdulaziz Ali Al Sulaiti from the Risk Management Unit in the Security Committee of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy said that the training course is designed to enhance the performance and develop skills of the participating officers to benefit homeland security and organize the 2022 World Cup in a safe way.
