MOI Qatar warns against using private vehicles as taxis

The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has reminded motorists that using a private vehicle for purposes other than those specified in its vehicle licence, including operating it as a taxi, is a traffic violation that may result in legal accountability.

In a public awareness message, the ministry stressed that motorists must comply with the intended use of their vehicles as stated in their official licence.

The ministry cited Article 57/5 of Qatar's Traffic Law, which states that a motor vehicle may not be used, or permitted to be used, for purposes other than those specified in its vehicle licence.

MOI urged drivers to comply with traffic regulations, noting that adherence to the law reflects awareness, responsibility and contributes to maintaining road safety across the country.
