A warehouse belonging to Al Kass TV, situated in the Muraikh area next to Aspire Academy and the Torch Hotel, caught fire on Saturday afternoon.

Though a lot of heavy smoke was visible in the vicinity, police and firefighters cordoned off the area and brought the fire under control. Qatar’s Ministry of Interior tweeted that the fire had been contained and that there were no casualties reported.

Khalid Al Jassem, a presenter working with Al Kass TV, confirmed there were no injuries in the fire. He posted a short video on his Twitter account, explaining the fire and the damages it caused.

“To avoid the spread of fake news, I want to explain that the warehouse contained cameras and other devices and equipment belonging to Al Kass Channel. While it’s a great loss for the channel, thank God there were no human losses,” he said in the video.

Al Jassem added that the firefighters who fought the flames were the actual heroes, taking huge risk in putting out the fire.

Ex-rally driver and media personality Saadoun Al Kuwari also posted a tweet about the fire, wishing everyone to remain safe.
