The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced the closure of the drive-through vaccination centers and the vaccination at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) during the month of June.
The closure of the QNNC vaccination center for June 29 was announced in light of achieving its goal of administering 650,000 COVID-19 vaccines in Qatar.
Additionally, the Ministry had announced the opening of the new vaccination center for the business and industry sector which significantly boosts the capacity of the National COVID-19 vaccination program.
Qatar has been identified as one of the top ten countries in the world for vaccine coverage per capita.
The Mass Vaccination Campaign initiative at QNCC began on February 18, 2021, with the goal of increasing vaccine administration capacity in Qatar and immunizing a larger population in a more efficient and timely manner.
As the priority group, the education sector cohort received 70 percent immunization of both doses for teaching, non-teaching staff, and eligible students.
People who received their first dose at QNCC will be scheduled for their second dose soon, and more information will be posted on the PHCC social media platform.
The Ministry had recently announced that people who are eligible for the vaccine can now schedule an appointment with the Primary Health Care Corporation’s (PHCC) new mobile app, Nar’aakom.
Undoubtedly, the QNCC vaccination center has played a vital role in curbing the spread of the coronavirus in Qatar.
Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik, Managing Director at PHCC, stated that PHCC undertook this project with the aim of reaching out to the community in Qatar and successfully administering many vaccines during the pandemic.
Moreover, she thanked the team and all those who have worked to supports the project, and also the public for their continued support and understanding.
The QNCC vaccination center was the result of a highly complex and mega-sized project which required exceptional project planning, implementation of clear and robust systems and processes, and continuous monitoring and improvement.
According to Dr. Yasmin Ali Morad, Project Director at PHCC, over 35 different teams comprising of more than 1000 staff and the ability to adapt based on the changing needs of the environment was what enabled the project to attain this milestone.
Furthermore, Qatar aims to vaccinate 80 percent of its population before 2022.
