Panama pulled an impressive 4-0 win against Qatar at the CONCACAF Gold Cup Quarterfinals at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas yesterday. The match which kicked off at 7 pm Eastern Time, saw Panama’s Ismael Diaz score a phenomenal hat trick in the second half that helped them qualify for the semifinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Panama’s Édgar Bárcenas' opened up the score in the 19th minute of the first half; and even though Qatar tried to even the score, it remained 1-0 at half-time.

Playing as special invitees at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Qatar qualified for the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup after a shocking 1-0 win against Mexico at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, USA on Monday, July 3.

According to CONCACAF, this is the first Gold Cup semifinal for Panama since the 2015 edition. Qatar however, qualified for the semifinals in the 2021 edition of the Gold Cup after a 3-2 win against El Salvador at the Farm State Stadium in Arizona.

Panama will play against the winner of today’s quarterfinal match between the United States and Canada at Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium.

The Final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup is all set to take play on Monday, July 17 at the Sofi Stadium in California.
