If astronomy appeals to you, then you may not want to miss the partial lunar eclipse, which will happen tomorrow in Qatar.

According to the Qatar Calendar House (QCH), you can observe the eclipse from Tuesday evening until the early hours of Wednesday.

The eclipse is special as it occurs during the full moon phase of Hijrah month Dhu Al-Qadah 1440 H.

It will be a partial eclipse with the shadow of the earth concealing at least 65 percent of the moon disc when the eclipse reaches its peak.

This is because the centers of the Moon, Earth, and Sun will be on a straight line and Earth will be in the middle of the other two celestial bodies during the phenomenon, said Dr Beshir Marzouk, an astronomer at QCH.

Much of the world will be able to view the eclipse except for North America, Greenland, and northern Russia.

Qatar residents will have the chance to see all phases of the eclipse.

All the stages of the eclipse will unfold over five hours and 34 minutes.

Moon will begin to cross from the semi-shadow region (invisible to the naked eye) at 9.44 pm.

The partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 11.02 pm, reach its peak after Wednesday at midnight in 31 minutes and end at 3.18 am local time, Dr Marzouk added.

According to reports, this will be the last lunar eclipse of 2019.
