This year’s edition of the IKEA Catalogue marks its 70th birthday. To help celebrate, IKEA, the region’s leading Swedish home furnishing retailer, converted the catalogue into a handbook that feels like a friendly and optimistic problem-solver.

Full of smart tips, hands-on ideas and small affordable shifts, the catalogue is a way of sharing knowledge and a point of view that a better home creates a better everyday life.

The 2021 catalogue is full of inspiration and information on ways to make your home cosier, smarter, more sustainable and beautiful.

Here are a few tips IKEA has put together to bring freshness to your already existing space:

A whole new kitchen in a few easy steps

If you are looking to give you kitchen a fresh look, do not get stressed about redoing the whole kitchen. IKEA recommends adding new cabinet doors, wall cubicles above the worktop to store spices and cereals and a flexible trolley, like NISSAFORS, to drag with you as you move around. By implementing these easy add-ons, you can make the most of your budget and time. The result is bold, beautiful, and full of added storage and functional space.

Create your ideal work from the home pace

Are you working from home but do not have the right ambience and space? One easy and effective idea would be to add a desk and shelves around your space to accommodate working from home. Dark brown painted walls work well and create a dramatic backdrop for black finish furniture with natural wood accents. This new-again colour combo in classic shapes makes for a warm and welcoming place to gather friends and family as well.  Two boldly textured woven bamboo pendants, KNIXHULT, sit above the table, casting a warm glow and adding another welcome touch of lighter natural materials to space.

Relax and unwind in your living room

The same dark brown paint in a washed suede-like finish wraps the walls in the living area too. Linen sheers and open work rattan chairs, GAMLEHULT, lighten things up, while the large storage pieces, small round tray table and standing lamp create a colour connection to the black cabinets and furniture in the kitchen and dining room. Woven baskets and boxes, dried flowers, glass door inserts and clear glass decorative objects are design elements that are seen throughout all three different “rooms” within the open-plan space, completing the look in a cohesive way. This cohesiveness creates a sense of calm throughout, making it easier to relax, unwind and enjoy time at home.
