Hundreds of Primary Health Care Centres (PHCC) around the country will start offering comprehensive health check-up packages for all patients soon, reported Qatar Tribune.

The programme, which will start running on a trial basis at the Leabaib health center in January, will cover only citizens above 18 years old. After the pilot phase is completed, it will be expanded to include expatriate patients as well, the newspaper reported.

The smart health check-up package includes vital tests and assessments and will help to detect diseases like diabetes, blood pressure and cancer early.

A patient undergoing the check-up programme will first be asked about his or her family medical history and then transferred to a lab for further tests. Based on test results, the patient will be referred to a doctor and from there to the relevant, specialised department.
