Whether you have been living in Qatar your whole life or just recently relocated, we’re willing to bet that you are still discovering new facts about Qatar daily. 

We’re always looking to share new and interesting facts, so here are a few that have been doing the rounds in the Qatar Living office this week.

1. Your exact address

Food delivery and taxi services are one of the great conveniences in Qatar, but explaining where you live can often be frustrating. There is actually a very simple solution to giving your exact address. Why not take a photo of the blue address board outside your accommodation? The Building No., Zone and Street numbers represent your exact location. 

2. Expats can apply for Qatari citizenship

Strange but true! Non-Qatari residents can apply for citizenship. That is if they meet a certain set of requirements. For more on what you need to do, view our recent video on obtaining citizenship here.

3. You can report cyber-crimes and other suspected criminal activity on Metrash    

Hacking and cyber-crimes are a hot topic at the moment. And while sometimes it seems that only the “big hacks” get the headlines, there are many people affected by online scams or phishing. If you’re a victim or have concerns, you can report it here. 

4. Environmental awareness

Qatar takes its environment very seriously, and in order to raise awareness of the environment and local wildlife, the Qatar Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment have released a book on animals mentioned in the holy Quran. 

5. Keeping it clean

Qatar is one of the cleanest cities in the world, and there is a very good reason to keep it that way! If you are caught littering on the streets, it is considered a serious violation with up a fine of up to 10,000 Riyals!
