Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held separate meetings with US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and American National Security Adviser John Bolton in Washington DC yesterday.

The two meetings discussed strategic ties between the two nations, in addition to critical regional and international issues, reported Gulf Times.

Sheikh Mohamed also held separate meetings with Senior Adviser to the US President Jared Kushner, Personal Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt, Co-ordinator for Counter-terrorism at the State Department Nathan Sales, Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, and some Congress members.

All the meetings discussed strategic bilateral relations and some regional and international issues, particularly peace in Afghanistan, Palestine, and joint efforts to combat terrorism and its financing.

The FM said he looks forward to hosting US officials in Qatar throughout this year, and to being back to the US as well. He said they were communicating to find solutions to the region’s most urgent issues, according to Qatar Tribune.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed that Qatar appreciated its ties with the US and noted that the meetings were part of an ongoing dialogue in all fields of common interest.

Sheikh Mohammed’s American visit follows the Second Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue that was held in Doha.
