Qatar Airways has been consistently recognized as the world’s best airline and has served as the largest international carrier during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, Qatar Airways gaveaway 100,000 free tickets to frontline healthcare professionals to say thank you for their heroic work looking after people during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Healthcare professionals from every country in the world were eligible for tickets. To ensure the application process is fair and transparent, each country received a daily allocation of tickets, depending on its population size, staggered over a seven-day period from May 12-18.

The 100,000 healthcare professionals that received the promotion code could book up to two complimentary Economy Class return tickets on Qatar Airways operated flights – one for themselves and one for a companion – to anywhere on the airline’s global network.

Yesterday, Qatar Airways tweeted, “If you have not been able to book your ticket or travel to date due to the pandemic, fret not as the booking date will be extended to 30 September 2021 with travel valid until 31 March 2022, subject to availability. Details will be emailed to you. Thank you for your heroic efforts”.

Recently, the airline announced that it targets to become the first airline in the Middle East to begin trialing the innovative new IATA Travel Pass ‘Digital Passport’ mobile app, in partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), from March 2021.

The national carrier plans to increase the number of destinations to more than 130 by the end of March this year. Many cities will be served with a strong schedule with daily or more frequencies.

Qatar Airways was recognized as the first global airline in the world to secure a prestigious 5-Star COVID-19 Airline Safety Rating by Skytrax.

The accomplishment follows HIA’s win as the first airport in the Middle East and Asia to get a Skytrax 5-Star COVID-19 Airport Safety Rating.

Qatar Airways also achieved the Diamond Standard in the Airline Passenger Experience Association’s (APEX) Health Safety Powered by SimpliFlying audit earlier this month.

With more frequencies being added to key hubs, the airline offers unrivaled connectivity to passengers, making it easy for them to change their travel dates or destination if they need to.
