People from seven countries — Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Iran, Iraq and Yemen — who had recently been banned by US President Donald Trump from entering the country, has some respite in sight.
Following an order by a federal judge in Seattle to temporarily stay the ban brought about by Executive Order, people from these countries are once again allowed to travel to and from USA.
Subsequently, Qatar Airways announced that nationals of the seven banned countries will be permitted to travel on their flights provided they present a valid, unexpired US visa, reported The Peninsula.
Those with Lawful permanent Resident card (Green card) will also be permitted to travel.
“As directed by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), nationals of the seven affected countries listed below and all refugees seeking admission presenting a valid, unexpired US visa or Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) card (Green Card) will be permitted to travel to the United States and will be processed accordingly upon arrival,” said a statement on the Qatar Airways website.
The US agency has told airlines to operate just as they had before the order, which temporarily stopped refugees and nationals from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States.
The judge's temporary restraining order represents a major challenge to Trump's action, although his administration could still appeal the ruling and have the policy upheld.
